Fan Art and the Like

Sat Jan 23, 2010, 9:45 PM
I'm glad I've gotten out of my crazed anime fan art days.

I put myself in the shoes of a comic artist and was able to see fan art a bit differently.

- Imagine if you had worked incredibly hard and dedicated all of your time and efforts into making a comic that you've been dreaming up your whole life, with original and well-developed characters that each have a little bit of yourself in them.

-Then you look on the internet and stumble upon pictures of your characters doing things with your other characters that they would never do.

-Then you see artists without any original ideas of their own getting their fame and recognition from just re-drawing your characters.

-Then you see people at conventions making easy money off of these pictures of your characters without even giving you credit or profit.

Flattery is one thing, but taking someone else's ideas or characters and perverting them for your own sexual, monetary, or attention-seeking gain is something else entirely.

I don't know about you, but if someone did that to my comics/characters I wouldn't be flattered. I'd be pissed D:<

Yes, I used to do all of the above (except sell fan art, but I would've if I had had the chance). And yes, I do favorite fan art on occasion. But now that I'm more aware, I'm making a conscious effort not to support fan art that does these things.
Because not all fan art is bad.

It's the way of the world, but that doesn't make it OK or mean that you have to submit to it.

After visiting 5 ATMs, my love and I were finally able to get some moneys and go on a shopping adventure! We purchased misc. art supplies and he bought a fancy scanner/printer/copier/time machine.
So now I'll be able to upload arts again!!

Oh joy! 8D

Back With New Inspirations

HEEEEYYYY! Sorry for my absence, friends. Here's a summary of what's happened since I last checked in:

- Took a useless art class.
- Watched Paprika in english.
- Went to a fancy tea party.
- Ran into my dream-boy at the local book/music/movie/coffee shoppe.
- Broke up with Padaman (mutual; we both had feelings for others)
- Adventured with my dream-boy.
- My dream-boy became my boyfriend.
- Started drawing more again.
- Mom moved back down.
- No home internets.
- Painted the Grinch on 2 windows in town.
- Perfected the art of cooking Egg-In-A-Nest
- Changed perspective of the world due to the specific signs in the Bible which have almost now all occured (aka the end of the world).
- Realized how silly distractions like material things are.
- Frustrated by still being in school.

And now I'm back on dA! :D
I will do my best to update, but they may have to be camera pics until I can figure out a scanner situation DX

God bless :3

Where Have I Been?

Fri Sep 25, 2009, 8:43 PM
We can't afford the internet anymore. Now I can only use it at my mom's house and she doesn't have a scanner. But I have many drawings to reveal and I've learned how to do all kinds of neat things like make little piggie blankets and work a sewing machine!! XD Hopefully we can get the net back up soon...

Sorry guys

HAND PAINS

Tue Jul 14, 2009, 12:09 PM
Do all artists get a bunch of hand pains and Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome, or is it just me??

I don't actually have CTS, I think I just pulled a muscle in my hand. But it only hurt when I was drawing, WHICH IS WHEN I NEED IT THE MOST!! D8<

Anyways, I just never hear any other artists complain about hand pains...
Maybe it's because they're not whiny babies (like me) DX
But I just freaked out since my life pretty much depends on my hand.

It really stinks having to take breaks and not being able to draw on a whim anymore..
